Obscura Coffee Roasters

A group of friends who met in college and went on to separate corporate jobs kept coming back to the one thing they actually wanted to talk about, coffee, and eventually left the Salaryman track behind to open a small cafe in Sangenjaya in 2009. Before Blue Bottle, before the neighborhood's bigger roasters moved in, this shop was already there, and it is often credited with starting Sangenjaya's run as one of Tokyo's densest specialty coffee pockets.
The original cafe has since grown into a small cluster of spaces near the station under the Obscura name, a roastery, a retail bean bar, and this cafe location known as Home, where hand drip and seasonal house blends are served alongside a short food menu. The team still travels to origin to buy directly from farms, and the small batch, seasonal approach that started with a handful of friends teaching themselves to taste coffee properly has carried through every location that followed.
