Balue

Balue occupies a converted garage on Nackagatan in eastern Sodermalm, opened by David You after more than a decade in specialty coffee. Korean and Japanese influences run through a compact, spare room built around matcha, hojicha and a rotating filter coffee list, doubling as a small flower stand rather than following the neighborhood's usual espresso bar format.

The program leans toward unusual flavor profiles, floral, tea like, sometimes lemongrassy cups that reward a slower order over a hurried fika. Minimalist desserts and homemade iced teas round out a short menu built for the considered visit rather than a quick stop.
