The Miners Karlín

The Miners Karlin storefront on a Sokolovska street corner with an illuminated sign over the entrance

The Miners started as a single Prague counter in 2019 and has since grown into a home grown chain with its own roastery and bakery behind every location, a rare enough setup that it landed at number 40 in the 2024 World's 100 Best Coffee Shops, the first Czech name to make that list. The Karlín room sits on the corner of Sokolovská, under the kind of vaulted ceiling and hand drawn murals that come from a building far older than the coffee program inside it, with cane chairs and soft armchairs built for staying a while.

Brunch runs every day here, eggs, toasts and bowls alongside the batch brew and espresso from the group's own roasting, and the room reads as comfortable for students, freelancers and office workers alike rather than a quick stop. Regulars bring their dogs along without a second thought, and the pastry case by the counter, stocked from The Miners' own bakery, tends to empty out well before the afternoon rush ends.
