Mad Drop Coffee

Mad Drop takes the corner spot on Ullevålsveien and turns specialty coffee into something closer to a heavy metal fan club, black walls, candelabras, band logo style lettering and a self declared cult that customers are invited to join. Owner Martina makes every syrup and pastry herself, and regulars single out that homemade touch as the real difference from the polished chains nearby, on top of a menu that runs from straight espresso and filter to nitro coffee, cold brew and an espresso tonic that has become a house signature.
The theatrics never crowd out the fundamentals, cappuccinos and cinnamon buns get the same care as the rhubarb and strawberry lattes and rotating matcha drinks, and the room stays genuinely welcoming rather than exclusive, drawing praise for being one of the only cafes in the area still open into the evening on a Sunday. Slovak press has profiled the concept as proof that Oslo still has room for something different, and themed collaborations with brands like Oatly keep the calendar full of one off events for the regulars who treat the place as a second living room.
