Havens Kafe

Havens sits on a residential corner of Fagerborg, ten minutes on foot from Majorstuen and far enough from the tourist routes that most tables fill with people who live within a few blocks. Rather than pick one roaster, the counter rotates between coffee from Fuglen and Tim Wendelboe, two of the names that built Oslo's reputation for light roasts in the first place, poured in a room with four window counter seats and one small table done up in a simple retro style. Since opening in 2023 it has settled into exactly the kind of unhurried local spot that keeps regulars coming back for a quieter cup away from the busier cafes closer to the center.
Pastries are sourced rather than baked in house, arriving from a rotating list of Oslo's better known bakeries, Mendels, Gladbakst, Apent Bakeri and the gluten free bakery Lyds among them, so the counter changes a little from week to week even when the coffee stays the same. A handful of outdoor seats face the greenery across the street, filling up fast on sunny afternoons with neighbors in no rush to leave.
