Bar Affori

The Bar Affori counter, glass shelving and a living green wall accent behind the bar

Bar Affori has occupied its corner in the Affori district, in Milan's far north, since 2007, when brothers Salvatore and Alessandro Interrante took over what was then an ordinary neighborhood bar. In 2019 they decided the coffee world was moving on without them, brought in specialist Johnny Jeon to train the team, and rebuilt the drinks menu around specialty beans without changing anything else about the room.

There is no single house roaster, La Sosta, Le Piantagioni del Caffè, and Caffè Cagliero rotate through the espresso and filter menu alongside other names that come and go, and the base blend keeps a touch of robusta in it deliberately, an easier bridge for regulars used to a different kind of espresso. Morning brioche comes from Clèa Pasticceria Culinaria, cornetti, cruffins, and cubic croissants, alongside a small stock of frozen pastries kept on hand so nobody feels priced out. Homemade sandwiches and focaccia cover lunch, and a wide counter with an outdoor terrace keeps the space feeling like an unpretentious quarter bar even as the coffee inside gets genuinely serious.
