Atto a Caffè Leopardi

The elegant Caffè Leopardi sign in script lettering above a striped green and white awning

Atto a Caffè Leopardi calls itself simply a neighborhood bar, specialty coffee with a kitchen attached, tucked into an old Milanese room near Arco della Pace that its owners recently remodeled without losing the original character. It opened as one of the newer specialty addresses in the Sempione area, small enough that its regulars still know the staff by name.

The coffee list runs through single origins from several different countries rather than one house blend, and the kitchen turns out a genuinely composed lunch menu, scrambled eggs, banana bread made in house by the shop's own chef, and other dishes that go beyond the usual pastry case. It keeps longer hours than most neighborhood bars, open into the evening Friday and Saturday, shorter daytime hours the rest of the week, and closed on Sunday.
