Atelier Prato

Atelier Prato opened west of Cadorna, near the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio, as a single room built around three things at once: specialty coffee, an all day brunch menu, and a working flower counter tucked into one corner. Sisters Violeta and Pia Martinez, who are Argentine Italian and spent years traveling before settling in Milan, shaped the space to feel unhurried and quietly international rather than built around any one country's cafe habits.

Coffee comes from Nudo Artisan Coffee with a deliberate lean toward South American origins, Brazilian and Peruvian lots that nod to the sisters' own background. The kitchen runs its brunch menu into mid afternoon, sweet plates like banana bread and French toast alongside savory options such as avocado toast and a saffron hollandaise egg dish called Eggs Prato. The shop takes walk ins only, no reservations, and closes entirely on Mondays; the flower counter keeps the same hours as the cafe around it.
