Pontes Roastery & Coffee Bar

The La Marzocco espresso machine at Pontes, stacked cups and a bag of retail beans on top against a warm plaster wall

Pontes is a micro roastery first, café second, run by a Danish Californian couple out of a small corner site on Toftegårds Plads. All roasting happens on site, typically on Wednesdays while the bar stays open, so the shelf of bags behind the counter changes often and the room can smell like a roastery mid shift on the right afternoon. It won Best New Coffee Opening in Denmark for 2026, a fast result for a shop that had barely had time to settle into its space.

The menu runs entirely plant based, coffee, pastries, and milk alternatives included, a deliberate choice rather than an afterthought accommodation. Eight to ten seats keep it intimate, and regulars describe an owner happy to talk through bean origins and processing for as long as someone wants to listen, closer to a conversation with a roaster than a transaction over a counter.
