Kastner Kommunity

The floor to ceiling windows, elevated podium seating, and gallery wall inside Kastner Kommunity

Kastner Kommunity opened in 2021 on the ground floor of the BUVÁTI tower on II. János Pál pápa tér, run by the Budapest advertising agency Kastner in a space that once held a branch of the Mézes Mackó pastry shop. Architect Bársony István and interior designer Eichinger Gyöngyi built the fit out around the tower's own 1960s era, mixing vintage and upcycled furniture, curved metal railings, and a floating staircase under six meters of ceiling height, the agency's signature blue set against terracotta accents and heavy greenery.

The house blend was developed with roaster Tamás Bikki of Brostery, a light roast pitched as a middle ground between Italian style and new wave coffee, lower in acidity without losing the aroma of either. Floor to ceiling windows look out over the square, and a gallery wall of rotating art runs alongside the cafe tables and an elevated podium seating area. Laptops are kept to a dedicated mezzanine coworking zone rather than the ground floor cafe itself, wheelchair access runs throughout, and the kitchen serves vegetarian and vegan options alongside the espresso and filter menu.
