Diesel Cafe

The black and white Diesel Cafe storefront sign in Davis Square, with a packed bike rack lining the sidewalk out front

Diesel Cafe has anchored Davis Square since 1999, a cavernous, industrial feeling room with pool tables, a working vintage photo booth and enough seating to absorb a full day of laptop users. It's women owned and LGBTQ+ owned, and the crowd and the decor both lean into that rather than downplaying it.

The espresso program sits alongside a full food menu built for lingering, from breakfast sandwiches to bagels, and the space stays open later than most coffee focused cafes in the area. It functions as much as a hangout as a coffee shop, which is exactly the reputation it has held for more than two decades.
