Kiez Kaffee Kraft

Interior of Kiez Kaffee Kraft with a branded t shirt on a rack, a landscape painting, and the pastry case in the background

Kiez Kaffee Kraft opened this Schivelbeiner Strasse corner in 2014 and has since grown into three neighborhood cafes across Prenzlauer Berg, Pankow, and Moabit, but the original address is still where the shop's signature banana bread was born and where its identity as a genuine Kiez, or neighborhood, coffee spot took shape. The house range runs its own named espresso and filter blends roasted specifically for KRAFT, alongside a monthly guest filter slot that has featured roasters like Playground Coffee from Hamburg, with full origin, farm, and process detail posted for every rotation.

One pointed complaint on Google, calling the espresso too sour and mocking the pastel cap crowd, is really just a backhanded confirmation of a real light roast, third wave program rather than a knock against it. Vegan carrot cake sits in the pastry case alongside the brownie and the banana bread that started it all, and the shop's own tone, playful, a little self aware, and unpretentious, matches the shirts on sale that just say the cafe's name and neighborhood.
