Garcia Kaffeebar

A Garcia house espresso retail bag listing its two cooperative single origin lots from Colombia and Ethiopia

Garcia opened in Moabit in January 2015, a family business run by Marila and Konrad that started with darker roasts to ease locals into specialty coffee before moving toward the lighter profiles the shop favors now. Its own house blend, roasted specifically for Garcia by Flying Roasters in Berlin, pairs a washed Colombian lot from Coop. Fondo Paez in Valle del Cauca with a natural Ethiopian lot from Coop. Taramesa in Sidama, both bought through direct trade with democratically organized cooperatives, and the counter rotates in guest roasters from across Europe, recent names include The Naughty Dog and TANAT, alongside that house pour.

The shop's own bakery turns out cinnamon rolls, banana bread, and a basque cheesecake customers single out by name, made by two in house pastry chefs rather than bought in, and a small retail shelf sells beans, matcha, and coffee gear for people who want to keep drinking the same cup at home. It is a genuinely laptop friendly room too, wide tables and window seating make it as workable for a slow afternoon as for a quick coffee on the way through Beusselkiez.
