Vecchio Caffè

Mimmo Fiorentino opened Vecchio Caffè on Giovinazzo's main square in 1999 as a cafe and gelateria, working the counter himself as both barista and gelato maker. A chance meeting with a trainer pulled him toward specialty coffee, and he has since spent years on brewing and sensory courses, competing as a coffee brewer on a national level.

The menu keeps an always-on rotation of Italian specialty coffee alongside one international origin, but it's the gelato, gourmet pastries and cakes, including vegan and gluten-free options, that built the counter's reputation in the old medieval part of town. It sits right on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, in the walkable coastal center of Giovinazzo, a short drive up the coast from Bari.
