Sango Specialty Coffee

Kaho and Mitchell, a pair of self taught roasters, converted a 1670s canal house with a traditional Amsterdam clock gable into Sango, a micro roastery a few minutes from Centraal Station. They roast on an IMF machine in light to medium profiles, working directly with producers or with importers who share their focus on traceability, and rotate through single origin lots from Ethiopia, Colombia, Honduras, Peru and beyond rather than keeping a fixed house blend. The name means coral in Japanese, chosen as a nod to sustainability and to the founders own background.
The front of the shop doubles as a showroom for home brewing gear, with Sango an official dealer for ECM, Acaia and ORIGAMI alongside the bagged beans on the shelves. A posted house policy asks visitors to leave laptops, tablets and video calls at the door, keeping the small room genuinely quiet for people tasting coffee or working through a pour over. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and the team runs private workshops on brewing, latte art and barista skills for anyone who wants to go deeper than a single cup.
