Five Ways Coffee Roasters

Ben O'Callaghan, an Australian who settled in Amsterdam, opened Five Ways Coffee Roasters in the Kinkerbuurt in 2017, building the business around a S35 Loring roaster and a policy of working directly with trusted green bean importers and, where possible, farmers themselves. The lineup runs from a Brazilian natural nicknamed Moves Like Jagger to washed Colombian lots and an Ethiopian natural called Da Bomb, roasted weekly to order rather than sitting on a shelf.
The Kinkerstraat cafe is a genuine neighborhood spot, pulling espresso and filter from the same beans sold in bags for home brewing, with cake and a short food menu alongside the coffee. A second Five Ways location has since opened on Boerhaaveplein in Amsterdam Oost, but Kinkerstraat remains the original West side shop the roastery grew up around.
